While Paul was in Jerusalem, a mob seized him and would have done him great harm if a Roman patrol had not come to his rescue. – Slide 1

The Roman patrol kept Paul prisoner and took him to the Roman authorities to answer the false accusations being made against him. He was kept in prison for two years. – Slide 2

Paul was then summoned to appear before the Ro-man Governor Festus. Festus wanted to put Paul on trial in Jerusalem, but Paul knew the Jewish leaders wanted to kill him. So, he asked to be put on trial in Rome before Cae-sar, the leader of the Ro-man Empire. – Slide 3

A few days later King Agrippa came to Caesarea to visit Festus. Festus ordered Paul to appear before King Agrippa. – Slide 4
5
Paul told King Agrippa how Jesus had appeared to him on the road to Damascus and how he had become a Christian. He told the King that his message to everyone was, ‘Stop doing wrong things and turn to God! Then prove what you have done by the way you live.’ – Slide 5

Festus shouted, ‘Paul, you're crazy! Too much learning has driven you out of your mind.’ – Slide 6
7
Paul replied, ‘I am not crazy. What I am saying is true, and it makes sense. Do you believe what the prophets said about God sending a Saviour? I know you do.’ – Slide 7
8
Agrippa asked Paul, ‘In such a short time do you think you can talk me into being a Christian?’ – Slide 8
9
Paul answered, ‘Whether it takes a short time or a long time, I wish you and everyone else who hears me today would become a Christian just like me! Except, of course, for these chains.’ – Slide 9

Both Festus and Agrippa agreed that Paul was innocent of the false charges the Jewish leaders had made against him. But as Paul had asked to face trial by Caesar he was led off to be sent to Rome. – Slide 10

Paul was happy he had been able to tell Governor Festus and King Agrippa about Jesus. Now he had the opportunity to tell Caesar about Jesus also. – Slide 11
